Stillness of the Dark

Contemplation of the deep,
Welcome rest, but not asleep,
Freely may my mind embark,
Welcome, stillness of the dark.

Where no light of star can reach
Conversation without breach,
Leaving fire and torch behind,
That my earthly eyes be blind.

Where appearance is not needed,
Wherein wisdom may be heeded,
Wherein answers may be found,
In the stillness underground.

Where the shadows past entangled
May no longer haunt or strangle
Where the future mysteries
May be free from certainties

Stillness is a welcome guest,
For the tortured, troubled breast
Darkness is a quiet host,
For the one who needs it most.

Search thy heart then, do not fear
Calm and truth await thee here
For the honest heart and mind,
There is peace for you to find.

Be thou still, as still as stone,
Wisdom’s light in dark is shone
Wound and burden left behind.
Sanctuary for the blind

As the earth is your foundation
For this silent conversation
Yearn with wonder, light the spark,
