Amtrak's Empire Builder typically splits into two different trains in Spokane, Washington, with one section of the train traveling along the Columbia River to Portland, Oregon, and the other, usually longer, section of the train proceeding mostly west across the Cascade Mountains and into Seattle. However, on rare occasion, the train is not split in two and the entire consist continues on to either Portland or, more often, Seattle. In this video, we'll get a rare glimpse of the full length Empire Builder running as one full train across the Cascades over Stevens Pass on a few different trips into and out of Seattle.
