Lenovo ThinkPad T470S laptop that has a broken hinge. He claims the unit was never dropped and that he went to open the lid on her laptop one day and it broke. Doing some research shows that this is a common problem on a lot of modern laptops as a result of them making the laptops thinner and thinner resulting in very brittle plastic that can't properly support the tension of the hinge. The bottom panel and side bezels suffered a lot of damage and the hinge and complete bottom frame will have to be replaced. This unit is out of warranty and the time in labor and sourcing the parts was too overwhelming so I washed my hands with it. I went on to rant about modern laptops and all their pitfalls. If you want a computer that's going to stay on your desk all day, stationary, then please stick with desktops. Only buy a laptop if you require the portability such as if you travel often. Try to avoid thinner laptops as well as they aren't built very great and will fail over time. It's a shame as Lenovo have been known to make some of the most solid laptops such as Think Pads etc. but nowadays the quality is embarrassing.
