Winter sowing experiment: It’s about growing native plants from seed, outdoors in the wintertime.
I had taken five native plant species, and I sowed seeds in one pot and covered it with a vented plastic lid, so they were “winter sown” according to the excellent Trudi Davidoff method, and in the other pot, it was kept open and exposed, aside from plastic mesh to keep out animals.
The goal was to answer the question: will a winter sown enclosed pot germinate earlier than an open pot? I know that both of these methods certainly work, but my question was more about timing.
