I spoke to two democracy superheroes - elections administrators - to help students at USC learn about our elections grants program.
Impacts of the program include:
Clayton County, GA: Seven new election day polling places opened, as well as support for more poll workers to support absentee ballot counting.
Maricopa County, AZ: Fourteen new drive-through ballot drop-box centers at sports stadiums and other large venues opened last weekend.
Nelson County, VA: Grant provided this rural mountain community, which faces frequent and intermittent power outages, with backup generators for all its polling places. In last year’s election, they had to shut down polls due to power outages on election day.
Warren County, NC. Grant increased the number of early voting polling places by one-third. A full 62% of county’s eligible voters have cast ballots early thanks in part to new early voting polling place
Douglas County, GA. Grant increased number of poll workers and opening of new advance-voting locations
Onslow County, NC. Grant allowed opening of new polling location and hiring more poll workers.
Jackson County, NC. Grant funded six new ballot vote return centers and additional early voting and election day poll workers.
Cameron County, TX. Grant supported two new early -voting sites.
