You can try and get your photos published without getting paid or you can try getting paid and make some money with your photography. Doesn't matter if you're a beginner or a professional. I think both are important and both will help you to improve your photography. Now, I got my first photo published 7 years ago and since then, I've learned a lot. In this video, my experiences and a secret –slightly controversial– tip to get your photos published and make money doing so.
