Croatia is a country full of natural beauty and one of the most popular activities in Croatia is visiting its national parks. The Croatian National Park system was established in 1949. with aim to protect biodiversity as well as preserve cultural heritage sites such as medieval villages, churches, castles and old towns.
The first proclaimed Croatian national park was Plitvice Lakes National Park in 1949 and over time Croatian National Park system has expanded to include 7 different national parks.

➡️𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞?
Plitvice Lakes are situated between Mala Kapela and Plješevica mountains in the Dinaric Alps. The national park is located at the national route D1 Zagreb–Split between Slunj and Korenica in the vicinity of Bosnia and Herzegovina. They are halfway between Zagreb and Zadar and a perfect stop for anybody traveling from north to south or vice versa.
➡️𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐨 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?
Many people visit the lakes for a day either from Zagreb, Zadar or Split. If you are on a flexible schedule you can also consider staying in the nearby villages for easier and early access to the lakes. If you are staying in the area you have more time to visit lakes and you can buy a two-day entrance ticket or consider many other attractions in the nearby area. You can rent a car and easily travel to Plitvice lakes on your own or take one of many intercity buses. Or, if you prefer, you can join an organized day trip group tour from almost all Croatian cities during the summer.
➡️𝐁𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭:
In summer many people visit the park because many people visit Croatia in the Summer season. However, summer is not the best time to visit, especially in July and August. In peak season there are many people on the trails making it impossible to walk normally, there is a long wait for the boats and it is hard to take a picture without other people everywhere. June and September are better months to visit in the summer months. However, the best time to visit the park is spring or autumn. Entrance fees are much cheaper and experiences are amplified.

Choose from one-day or two-day tickets valid for two consecutive days beginning from the date of sale. If plan a longer stay consider one of the Parks hotels or book a stay in nearby houses, apartments, camps and villas.
