A team of Italian scientists have blasted off on Virgin Galactic's first commercial spaceflight in what was described as a "historic moment" by Sir Richard Branson.
Galactic 01 carried a crew of six on its 90-minute flight to the edge of space.
The flight, from Spaceport America in New Mexico, was on a research mission with the crew carrying out scientific research experiments.
It paves the way for the company to take paying passengers, who are expected to pay around £350,000 per seat.
