Here are four scales you'll probably want to be familiar with if you want to play jazz.
Majors
Jazz melodic minors
Diminished
Whole tone
Of course there are many other types of scales such as; pentatonics, hexatonics, blues, harmonic minors, natural minors, bebop, etc. However, learning these four scales gave me a good foundation for beginning to understand jazz improvisation and scale theory.
