(6 Sep 2015) THOUSANDS OF ARAB AND ASIAN ASYLUM SEEKERS CONTINUED TO CROSS THE HUNGARIAN BORDER INTO AUSTRIA AND GERMANY SUNDAY MORNING.
SOME TRAVELERS WERE OVERCOME WITH TEARS AFTER BEING GREETED WITH CHEERS AND APPLAUSE AS THEY EXITED TRAINS IN FRANKFURT.
SOUNDBITE (English) Nawras Ali, 23, from Damascus, Syria (left his home almost 1 month ago and left Vienna on the train this morning):
"Our aim was to stay in Frankfurt, but now, as all these kind people welcomed us and told us to get on this train some people are organizing here. I think they are taking us to a certain place near here. I don't know exactly where it is. But they told us that it is for us – and for people like us."
MOST REFUGEES WERE SURPRISED BY THE WARM WELCOMES THEY RECEIVED FROM SO MANY GERMANS...THEY WERE GIVEN FREE HIGH-SPEED TRAIN TICKETS, FOOD, SUPPLIES AND EVEN CANDY AND TOYS FOR KIDS.

FOR MANY, THE JOURNEYS HAVE NOT BEEN EASY...MOST OF THEM ARE FLEEING CONFLICT IN AREAS INCLUDING SYRIA, IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN.

"When we left our home, we wanted to take something for our children, toys, clothes. I was in my family's home and I wanted to go to my home to take the children's things. When I got into my home, planes started to bomb us. I left everything, just took my children and (ran) out."
BUT FOR SOME..THE JOURNEY TO WESTERN EUROPE WAS FAR FROM OVER. PROTESTS BROKE OUT IN GREECE FRIDAY NIGHT, AFTER POLICE TOLD 1,000 MIGRANTS HOPING TO BOARD A FERRY TO ATHENS TO LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAD NO TICKETS.

"I just want to go to the Germany. Why we are staying here for this time? Just I want to go to the Germany."
GERMANY EXPECTS TO RECEIVE A STAGGERING 800,000 ASYLUM SEEKERS THIS YEAR ALONE.
ON SATURDAY, HUNGARY ANNOUNCED ITS EMERGENCY BUS SERVICES TO THE BORDER HAD FINISHED AND WOULD NOT BE REPEATED. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY, HUNDREDS OF MIGRANTS CONTINUED THEIR JOURNEY WEST ON FOOT.
