This young man was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate deformity. His congenital deformities were surgically repaired during infancy. As he grew up, the nasal deformity caused by the cleft lip became more pronounced with a depressed right alar base. There was also a very prominent scar from his cleft lip surgery.
Desiring to get these issues addressed, he presented to our hospital for treatment. Treatment planning included closed rhinoplasty with augmentation of his nasal bridge with a costal rib graft, bone grafting to his alveolar cleft defect with the placement of dental implant and lip scar revision surgery. A ceramic crown would be attached to the dental implant once osseointegration of the implant with surrounding bone has been demonstrated.
He underwent the aforementioned procedures with good results. There was an establishment of pleasing facial esthetics following the surgery. He was very happy with the outcome of the surgery. The patient expressed his thankfulness to the hospital staff before discharge.
