(25 Jul 2019) Thousands of Puerto Rican's marched in San Juan on Thursday show their support for change and to celebrate Govenor Ricardo Rosselló's resignation.
The jubilant crowd moved through the Condessa neighborhood of San Juan waving Puerto Rican flags as they marched to the beat of drums.
"Right now he is one of the most hated people in the whole world," said Misael Velez, a San Juan resident. "He had to resign."
Puerto Rican artists Bad Bunny and Residente rode atop a vehicle waving flags along with others celebrating.
"A political movement must include art and the artists who have been representing the country for many years," said Marisol Fernandez, a student who was walking to join the march.
Rosselló announced his resignation overnight, ceding power after nearly two weeks of furious protests and political upheaval touched off by a leak of insulting chat messages.
