The Top 10 Myths About Entrepreneurship:
If you believe any of these, please redirect your mindset and understand they are all incredibly false. Mindset is very important and knowing what's real and what isn't can make or break your success.
1. Entrepreneurship is a "get rich quick" thing
(Entrepreneurship is actually a "get rich over time if you do it right" kind of thing)
2. Entrepreneurship is a full time job
(Entrepreneurship is actually a sacrifice, you do not need to choose between your 9-5(full time job) and your Entrepreneur(full time job), You fit in your business on weeknights, or weekends ....or dare I say, at work?
3. You need a degree or "business school" or an MBA to be an entrepreneur
(Laughable, many entrepreneurs including Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg literally left college to pursue entrepreneurship) - You most definitely do not need an accredited degree, far from it.
4. You need capital or a bunch of money to be an entrepreneur
(1. It's never been easier in society than today to start a business with zero money. 2. It's also never been easier than today to raise money if needed)
5. You'll instantly have unlimited freedom and time
(Sure, becoming an entrepreneur means you choose what you do with your time and freedom. If you want a profitable business that means working hard, usually harder than you did at your 9-5)
6. Entrepreneurs are "just born that way"
(Often times entrepreneurs discover an idea or concept that they become passionate about and build a business around, there's no rhyme or reason or birthright to being an entrepreneur)
7. All you need is an idea
(Incredibly false, more like, all you need is EXECUTION. If all it took were concepts and ideas, everyone would be an entrepreneur. Come up with an idea and execute, then you'll be an entrepreneur)
8. Entrepreneurs are young and full of vitality
(Laughable, simple google some of the greatest company founders ever and look at what age they started the company, enough said)
9. Entrepreneurship is "high risk", "don't do it!"
(This misconception is mind boggling considering the fact that your 9-5 is riskier financially to you than being an entrepreneur, at any given moment you could lose your job, that's not the case in entrepreneurship, you might fail, but you can always start over, 9-5 jobs will be around forever)
10. Entrepreneurship means guaranteed success!
(Incredibly false, you're more likely to fail than not, which is great! You just need to learn "how to fail", fail forward, fail fast, learn from what didn't work, fix it, get back up and move on, these are the people that become successful entrepreneurs.
