Continuing to shred apart India's colonial post, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to unveil the new Ensign or the Nishaan of the Indian Navy that will mark a departure from the British Raj symbol.
The Prime Minister will unveil the new naval ensign in Kochi on September 2, where he will also commission the first indegenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. While details of the new ensign design have not been revealed yet, it is said that it will do away with the colonial past and befit the rich Indian maritime heritage. The ensign and crest are an important part of the naval tradition as they have a prominent place in ceremonies and practices.
