The final maestoso and allegro sections from the second movement of Camille Saint-Saëns Third Symphony in c minor as realized by Georges Prêtre with the Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire and Maurice Duruflé on the organ.
Controversial for its slow speed and the highly reverberant acoustics of the St. Étienne-du-Mont cathedral in which it was recorded, Prêtre's rendition of the work is best enjoyed for its majestic sonic power; a true departure from most conventional performances of the work.
Score included in video for study and comparison.
