Definitely a cool Remington Rolling Block rifle with a heavy octogonal barrel in 50-70 government. The 50-70 government cartridge was shortlived. After being adopted the US Army post civil war in a variety of rifles and carbines, it would aon be replaced by the 45-70 in the early 1870s. Some folks still reload for it, especially for vintage weapons. My friend Will definitely enjoys the old big game hunting rifles such as this one. The setup is great for hunting, especially with the buckhorn sights.
