From Nelson we moved to Golden Bay to spend the remaining two full days of our holiday before commencing our journey back to the UK. Day 1 in Golden Bay was spent visiting Waikoropupu (Pupu) Springs, source of the purest water in Australasia, and a return to Puponga at the start of Farewell spit. We also visited windy Wharariki beach on the west coast before returning to our villa in Liger Bay via the Abel Tasman memorial which marks the site where Europeans first landed in NZ in 1642 before being chased off by the local native tribes.
On the second day we visited the spectacular Wainui Falls and had our last bush walk in part of the Abel Tasman National Park, on the coastal track which leads to Separation Point (where Tasman Bay meets Golden Bay.)
