Dictator Assad emptied Syria's treasury and fled to Russia. After opposition forces took control of the government, Assad escaped with a staggering $135 billion, leaving Syria's central bank completely drained. Interim leader Mohammed Al-Bashir announced that the country’s foreign reserves were depleted. Meanwhile, Assad used the stolen money to secure the 6th spot on the list of the world's richest people and reportedly purchased 20 luxury apartments in a Moscow skyscraper. To put it into perspective, this fortune could fund the construction of 112 replicas of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. If you were in Assad's position, would you have stolen the money?
