A Nuclear Explosion Was Made for the movie Oppenheimer, without CGI.
So director Christopher Nolan is pretty famous for avoiding CGI in his movies. The one time he had to use it was in Interstellar. And the black hole CGI was so accurate, it led to the discovery of new scientific phenomena. But making a nuclear bomb isn't easy.
So here's some instructions.
The first thing you is need a shell of explosives around your nuclear material. These explosives need to be triggered at exactly the same time. Because that's the only way to compress the plutonium, which is a metal, to half it's size.
And that's the easy part.
Right after, you need to trigger a chemical reaction in the centre that releases neutrons. If you did all that correctly, this is footage from a real underwater nuke test.
So the results should be similar.
