Should you go to the Emergency Room with Abdominal, Stomach or Chest Pain? I’m Dr. Michael Chiang and I’m here to discuss two common emergency conditions seen in the ER: chest pain and abdominal pain. When a patient experiences a heart episode, it does not always present as chest pain. Sometimes there are accompanying symptoms such as: pressure or discomfort, back pain, stomach pain or heartburn.
As an ER physician, I know that time is crucial. When a patient first starts to experience chest pain or symptoms, he or she needs to come in right away. We need to start diagnosing, running specialized tests for heart disease, and treating the patient immediately. With abdominal pain, the patient should be treated in the ER because CT or ultrasound imaging is often needed to rapidly identify the cause of pain and to initiate the appropriate medical or surgical treatment in a timely manner.
These two common conditions can be serious. It is important to get to the ER right away with either of these symptoms and let us help you. We’re here to diagnose and to treat your medical concerns with top quality care. Only Advance ER offers our patients specialty care by gastro-intestinal and heart specialists onsite without any additional professional charges.
