The SS Central America sank in 1857, taking with it more than $100 million dollars in gold based on today's value. A federal court has cleared the way for the California Gold Marketing Group to take possession of thousands of gold coins, 45 historic Kellogg & Humbert gold ingots, and 10,000+ silver coins. The treasure will be shown publicly for the first time at the Long Beach Expo in February. CoinWeek has behind-the-scenes photos of the coins as PCGS prepares this historic gold rush treasure for public display.
