NATO head Anders Fogh Rasmussen delivered a speech in Vilnius at Alliance Parliamentary assembly after meeting with Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite. The situation in Ukraine is the central discussion topic of the session.
A three-day spring session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly started at the Lithuanian Parliament Seimas.
More than 600 participants from 28 NATO member-states, NATO PA-associated members, regional partners, delegations of the European Parliament (EP) and various international organizations attend the event.
Secretary of the National Ukraine Security Andriy Parubiy during Assembly asked not only advice, but also a practical support, such as guns.
Rasmussen responded that NATO itself does not possess anty equipmenet and it is up to Member states to decide regarding practical help.
During the Vilnius session, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly plans to discuss three draft documents, namely, a declaration on NATO enlargement proposed by the Lithuanian parliament, a declaration on support to Ukraine, and a declaration on trans-Atlantic relations.
Guests will also visit the NATO Energy Security Center of Excellence operating in Lithuania.

Now we need not only advice, experience and knowledge but we also need practical support from countries, Ukraine needs practical support. We keep on telling it to European partners, we have talked about support we need on numerous occasions. Things we need are very basic as we need night-vision devices, helmets and other small things. We also need support when we speak about precision rifles. We definitely need help in those areas if we want to regain the territories taken by terrorists.
