In this video, Eric shows you how to install these gauges in your boat, replacing the standard factory gauges. Instead of using a CommandLink network, we use a standard NMEA network with the "Golden Channels Better Connected Yamaha CommandLink Digital Gauge Set" to obtain engine data from our Yamaha Outboard.
There is also tips on how to get speed from your GPS or fish finder and how to make proper connections.
A major fishing advantage of these gauges is the ability to adjust the idle speed to increase or decrease the speed at which you troll. You should check that your model of engine has this ability prior to installation. These digital gauges allow you to adjust your trolling speed +/- 50 rpm at a time, to match the exact speed where the fish are hitting.
In addition to this feature, you can display instantaneous fuel consumption to allow you to optimize fuel consumption / speed while on plane. This feature will quickly pay for the upgrade for the gauges by increasing your fuel economy on the water.
