NEIL MORRIS
From chanting in Yorta Yorta language to writing in poetry, Neil Morris is an artist whose taste in music is that of a chameleon. Shifting between sounds of traditional Aboriginal clapsticks to the futuristic tunes of modern technology - this Indigenous man raised in Shepparton is out to find harmony in a genre of his own. Descended from lands of Bialmi (Yorta Yorta creator spirit) Biyala (redgum) and Kaiela banmirra (father water river).
Being an already seasoned and qualified musician Neil has seen his fair share of festival and small venue performances over the course of his career, sharing the stage with Aussie MC and producer Joelistics (TZU), Birdz (Bad Apples), Briggs (Bad Apples), Amaru Tribe as well as performing in front of coveted Rainbow Serpent Festival. Currently Neil is working on 4 distinctive music projects that are unlike each other in sound – explaining that each blends in with different cross genres according to the style of group members. Each of these projects sits within the realms of either hip-hop, deep funk/deep soul guitar with fusions of synth bass lines spanning across g-funk and other lo Fi genres.
The development of his unique taste in music is the result of a lifetime of musical influence and research. Dabbling in many keys and all kinds of percussion, thrown in with traditional Aboriginal song, soul and psychedelic mish mash hoping to connect without words to those willing to listen.
