An Orcasound webinar by Ted Cheeseman, co-founder of Happywhale, recorded on Wednesday, 9/20/2023, 5-6:30 pm Pacific. The event was a partnership of Orcasound, the American Cetacean Society (ACS), and Happywhale. The talk was facilitated by Scott Veirs (Orcasound & PSEMP/MMWG), organized by Firuze Gokce (Orcasound and ACS - San Francisco), and coordinated with Uko Gorter (ACS National and Puget Sound Chapter).
The recording includes: introductions for about 10 minutes; a 45 minute presentation by Ted; and about a half hour of Q&A + discussions, facilitated by Scott. Some great questions and comments were contributed by regional experts from across the Salish Sea who study humpback identification, ecology, and bioacoustics, including: John Calambokidis, Tasli Shaw, Emily Vierling, Erin Gless, and Val Veirs.
Thanks to all who attended the talk, and also to all the community scientists around the Salish Sea who are collaborating to understand and connect with humpback whales and other marine life. You can learn more about this event here -- [ Ссылка ]
At that event page, you will find all the links that were shared in the chat during the talk. We hope that some of them will help explore how to be an effective community scientist -- thanks to tools like Happywhale and Orcasound that increasingly integrate artificial intelligence.
