Weisburd describe his research on the law of crime concentration summarizing findings from a series of empirical studies of crime at micro geographic units of analysis. He will also describe how this research has led to experiments in place based policing, and will review the experimental evidence supporting the effectiveness of this approach. He will conclude by reviewing a recent randomized field experiment that indicates that police training in fair and respectful policing can both improve evaluations of the police and enhance crime control at crime hot spots.
