Banyuls-sur-Mer [baɲuls syʁ mɛʁ], or in Catalan, Banyuls de la Marenda, was settled by Greeks in the year 400 before Christ, and finds itself on the French Mediterranean coast Côte Vermeille, in the foothills of Pyrenees.
The village has only around 5K inhabitants, lays on the famous Wine Route, and is well known for various sorts of tasty local wine.
Banyuls-sur-Mer is twinned with Settle, North Yorkshire, England, and also with the town of Kralupy nad Vltavou in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic.
