(20 Dec 2017) A legal expert has criticised the use of a gagging order to silence Harvey Weinstein's former personal assistant after she accused him of sexual misconduct.
Zelda Perkins signed the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) 19 years ago as part of a settlement against the movie mogul.
Now she's chosen to break the agreement because, she says, she wants people to know how victims can be pressurised into keeping quiet.
London lawyer David Gordon, from the DG Law firm, says NDAs tend to benefit the stronger party.
He's suggesting that gagging orders should be banned in circumstances such as the Weinstein case where criminal conduct has been alleged.
