Having Realistic Expectations in 12 Step Recovery
Working the 12 steps of recovery isn't something that happens quickly. Recovering from codependency or addiction can't be rushed. Recovery is not a race.
The process of recovery is imperfect but it's easier when you are motivated to change something or the pain becomes greater than your fear. Find a great sponsor and work through the 12 steps of recovery with them. The 12 steps are not meant to be done by yourself. It's okay to take the time to really live each step one by one so you can fully understand how the 12 steps work.
