What is the mistake the global community keeps making in terms of migrant and refugee health?
In April 2024, WHO/Europe in collaboration with the Government of Malta and the European Commission, hosted the Knowledge Forum on Refugee and Migrant Health - bringing countries and partners together to implement a new action plan. Among the questions we put to the experts debating and analyzing the issue from their vantage point, was this: What is the mistake the global community keeps making in terms of migrant and refugee health?
One in 8 people is a refugee or migrant in the WHO European Region. An estimated 101 million migrants, including 12.5 million refugees, live in the Region, making up 13% of the total population.
WHO and the EU are working together to ensure better health for refugees and migrants.
