String alignment on a selfbow can be tricky. This video shows my simple method for correcting the alignment of a self bow that is misaligned. You can tell the string is not tracking correctly if you sight down the belly of the braced bow and the string is off to one side or the other. By heating the bow in the handle you can create the most amount of limb movement with the least amount of work. The handle is also a good place to correct alignment because it is not a working portion of the bow and is not as sensitive to being over-stressed by the heat.
