How to Catch a Crab!
Bruce learns from his Daddy what is required to catch a crab...Or 14 of them, which we did!

NB: BE CAREFUL KIDS, DON'T GO TOO NEAR THE EDGE, WHEN CRABBING!

First, Bruce's Daddy got some bacon, then a crabbing bucket and a crab line, with bait bag. He unwinds the line, puts the bacon into the bait bag and then ties the strings of the bag around a loop which is part of a metal bit. (Watch the video to find out!)

Soon after he dropped the line into the water, he caught a crab!
A crab wanted the bacon and held onto the line! These crabs love the bacon so much, they wouldn't let go of the bait bag of bacon! We put them in water in the bucket so they could continue to swim; we also dropped bacon into the bucket hoping they would stop fighting each other for bacon.

However, bacon clouds the water quickly, just beware, we could not see the crabs clearly once the water clouded over.

Also, we attracted lots of onlookers! So be ready for this attention!

We caught 14 crabs in total, that morning! In the afternoon, something changed and we only caught a couple, it could be down to the tide or the weather. In the morning it was not too warm, very slightly chilly, overcast weather. This was in Dartmouth, UK.

We released all the crabs back into the water, as we did not want to harm them. You can see at the end of the video that the seagulls could not wait to have the bacon either!
