Bettadasanapura is a village in Karnataka. The name 'Bettadasanapura' originates from 'betta,' meaning 'hill,' 'dasa,' meaning 'servant of god,' and 'pura,' meaning 'town.' On Bettadasanapura Hill, there is an ancient fort that dates back to the 10th century.
The fort has witnessed the rule of various dynasties, including the Gangas, Cholas, Vijayanagara Empire, and Mysore Kings. Research suggests that the fort and temples were likely built by the Chola kings. Inside the fort, there are two temples and a rock-cut temple tank. The Vishnu temple is known as Thimmaraya Swamy, while the Shiva temple is called Kashi Vishvanathar.
