VILLA HILLS, Ky. (WKRC) - It's the day before the Kentucky Derby and students at Villa Madonna School are holding their own Run for the Roses.
It began with a rendition of "My Old Kentucky Home."
Then fourth graders at the Villa Hills school ran their own race in the school gym.
They made stick horses and decorated silks.
Chloe Schaffer, the winning jockey, and her support team were given roses.
The students' Derby Day project rounds out a year of learning about Kentucky history.
