Foxtail millet idli is the best alternative to regular rice idli. Single millet idli gives only 22 calories and 1.72 gm proteins. To prepare foxtail millet idli we are using Urad dal and foxtail millets from TBOF. These millets are unpolished and organic. Do try it.

How to add foxtail millets in your regular diet-Wash the foxtail millets 2-3 times. Soak in water for 8 hours. Further they could be used to make idli,dosa, khichdi etc. Washing ,Soaking, sprouting of millets help in removing the anti-nutrients they contain and make them easy to digest.

Ingredients
1. Urad dal (white gram split)-1/2 cup(100gm)
2. Kangni (foxtail millets)-1.5 cups(300gm)
3. Methi dana (fenugreek seeds)-1 tsp(5gm)
Method
1. Take a bowl and add urad dal, foxtail millet and methi dana.
2. Wash 2-3 times.
3. Add sufficient water and soak it for 8 hours.
4. Now strain the water, add it in a mixer jar, add a little water and grind it.
5. Mix well, cover it, and keep it aside overnight for fermentation.
6. Next morning add salt, water and mix well.
7. Grease the idli mould, pour the batter and steam it for 15 mins.
8. Our healthy low calorie foxtail millets are ready to serve.
9. Serve hot with sambar and chutney.
