The Rolex President Day-Date has single quickset and double quickset models to choose from. In this video, our watch expert Creed will explain how to set the Double Quickset Day-Date, meaning both the day and the date windows are set autonomously from the center hour and minute hands.
At SwissWatchExpo, we don't just sell watches! We also provide product education, and help our clients learn how to interact with their watch. Grab your watch and check out our step by step tutorial.

SwissWatchExpo on the "How To" with the Double Quickset Day-Date Rolex. This is the white gold with that gorgeous bronze Jubilee dial. This is also called the Anniversary dial. It's also got the diamond markers. It's an absolutely gorgeous piece, if you ask me. One of the things that I do want to point out, as I always do on these videos, check to see when you pick up your watch, if you need to reset the time and the date. If you pick it up and let's say that, it's stopped overnight or over the week or by the month, since you've worn it last. You pick it up and let's say it's in the top of the hour hand is in the top half of the dial in this particular instance, you'll notice that it's 10:10 almost and 10:09, but we don't know if that's AM or PM.
We want to know if that date and day are gonna flip. What we're going to do is we're going to unscrew the crown. So unscrew the crown, this against the body, we're going to screw it away from the body. When you get the crown open, you'll notice that there's a little bit of space there. If you push on it, it's a little bit springy. Now we're going to check the date and the day to see if they flip, when that hour hand passes the twelve. Let's find out, move this fast, and it did. It went from Saturday to Sunday. That's how we know that that's midnight. Now, what I always tell folks to do is keep that hour hand in the bottom half of the dial, because it is very sensitive. You never want to change the day or the date, no matter which watch you have, you never want to change any of those date functions while that hour hand is above the nine and the three. In other words, if that hour hand appears in the top half of the dial, this is a danger zone. You do not want to adjust that day and date because you can actually jam up the date wheel. Now that's typically because folks don't know that at nine o'clock at night, the date wheel begins to start changing the gears engage, and then they do not release until after three. Now, what that means is if you decide to force that date past that date wheel, it can break it or bend the teeth in it and causes a service problem. This happens not just to Rolex, but many other watches, as a matter of fact Rolex is a lot more resilient to that than other manufacturers.
So be careful of that. Now we're going to go ahead and we're going to say, okay, let's go ahead and set the date and day on this watch. Now we've got it set to Saturday. Let's assume for a moment that we needed to change that date. I'm gonna push the crown back in, cause I have adjusted the hour and the minute hand, I pushed it back in. You can see where it's still springy. That's in the winding position. If you haven't wound the watch, go ahead, wind it. You're going to want to do that about 45 or 55 times, that will fully wind the watch. Now that's any Rolex that you may come across. It's a good notion to go ahead and do that. Here's why, when you turn that crown, you may not turn that crown in one full turn.
Each time you do like this. You may only turn it half to three quarters. We want to make sure we turn it one full wind, and then you will make sure that you do it the proper amount of times, by going ahead and giving it 45 to 55 times, because that will ensure that you've turned that crown at least 25 to 30, which is the maximum you would ever need to be able to wind that watch fully. Now moving on to the second portion, we're going to pull this crown out one click. You can feel it when you do that. You can either do it with your fingernail or you can just pinch it and pull, and you could feel there's a little bit of resistance there. When you do, you'll notice that when you turn the crown towards you, the day changes, you see that?
Now you're going to notice that this window kind of flickers a little bit, but that's okay. That's normal operation. #Rolex #RolexDayDate #RolexPresident #RolexWatches
