Is Your Self-Tan Toxic? #shorts
Dr. Janine asks the question – is your self-tan toxic? Technically no it is not toxic. Self-tanning products are usually containing a harmless colorless sugar called dihydroxyacetone that interacts with the dead skin cells to give you a temporary tan. Dr. Janine advises that a real tan from the sun is better for you. She explains that melanin (the skin permanent that causes your tan) is a free radical scavenger, boosting antioxidants and eliminating free radicals. Research has also found that melanin may aid in immune system support and reduce inflammation in the body. Dr. Janine recommends getting a real tan by starting slow with small amounts of sun exposure and working up to a longer time in the sun.
