The Pacific Approach, 2021-2025 is the Asian Development Bank’s development blueprint for the Pacific’s 12 small island developing states (SIDS): Cook Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, and Vanuatu.
ADB’s new Pacific Approach has three core objectives: build resilience to shocks such as the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, deliver sustainable services, and support inclusive growth by scaling up ADB’s private sector operations in the region.
With the region still grappling with the health, social, and economic impact of the pandemic, the Pacific Approach also has a stronger emphasis on health care services and social protection, as well as a new climate strategy for the region.
