We can’t celebrate #PolarBearWeek without sharing how our resident polar bear ‘Siku’ enjoys every last drop of salmon oil after a training session! 🐻❄️ Turn your sound on for some polar bear ASMR!
If you’ve ever visited Siku during feeding time, you might be surprised to see that he is a fan of fruits and vegetables! 🥬🍠🍎 Like their relatives, black bears and grizzly bears, polar bears can process an omnivorous diet. While polar bears are almost exclusively carnivores, with their main food source being seals, they will readily eat birds, fish, vegetation and kelp during periods when they are forced ashore.
Polar bears have high fat needs and rely on seal blubber to help stay warm in frigid temperatures and buoyant in icy waters. But as global temperatures rise and melt the sea ice they rely on for hunting, travel and raising their young, their survival is increasingly at risk. You can help do your part to #SaveOurSeaIce and reduce your carbon footprint by making sustainable choices, like using reusable cups! ☕
