Bexar County Clerk Lucy Adame-Clark introduced the office's latest preservation project, “Preserving & Providing a Gateway to History at the Bexar County Clerk's Office”. Mrs. Adame-Clark's commitment to preserving the Library of Historical Records has driven the development of this project, which was approved by the Commissioners Court in 2021.
This project has compiled an array of record series, providing innovative resources for the community, educators, researchers, government entities, and municipalities. Preservation Projects of this nature address a pressing need within the County Clerk’s Office. Each series in the preservation project is focused on records with enduring retention, high demand, and community value. Records encompassed in the project include Commissioners Court Minutes, Citizenship Records, DD214’s, Road Minutes, Plat Index, Bexar County Spanish Archive Translations, Index to Survey Records, Bexar District Field Notes, Water Right Maps, Election Records, Trademarks, Spanish Deeds, School Land Records, Amnesty Oaths, and many others. The preservation and digitization of these historical records have made them publicly accessible via the Bexar County Clerk Public Search system.
Notable guest speakers included Former Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, and Freddie T. Bustillo, President of the Canary Islands Descendants Association. Attendees included former Bexar County Clerks Robert D Green (served from 1976-1994) and Gerard Rickhoff (served from 1995-2018), Mayor Johnny Rodriguez of Balcones Heights, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai, members of the The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Women Unlimited and many others.
