A perspective for not filling the cracks in log wood sculptures…
After carving log wood sculptures for some years now, I've realized a few things about the inevitable cracks that develop in the material. Rather than treating them as a flaw to stress over, filling them, fixing them, and covering them up... I've learned to embrace the cracks as a natural part of the material, and through this acceptance, I've also learned to embrace my own life fractures as part of the story I have to tell. Between our shared fractured experience, the wood and I co-create an authentically raw and honest artwork.
