STORYLINE:
Indonesia's 'First Lady' launched an ambitious campaign on Saturday.
Ani Yudhoyono is trying to get the country's women to plant 10 (m) million trees before next week's summit in Bali on climate change.
Ani, the wife of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, started it by planting her own tree, quickly followed by many more as other campaigners and children took up the challenge.
"Global warming and climate change are not theoretical any more," she said. "This phenomenon is real, where the effect is happening in the whole world."
Indonesia, the conference host country, has been criticised for failing to prevent widespread deforestation, often accompanied by burning that has in the past led to huge palls of smoke visible from space.
