Maharashtra crisis LIVE updates: A week into the political crisis that rocked the state of Maharashtra, the Supreme Court on Monday stayed the disqualification proceedings against the Eknath Shinde-led rebel MLAs till July 12, and sought responses to pleas by them questioning the legality of notices issued by the Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly. The top court, however, refused to pass any interim order on the plea of the Maharashtra government that there should not be any floor test in the Assembly. According to sources, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray tried to resign twice, including on Monday, but was convinced against it by NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has reached out to the rebel Shiv Sena MLAs camping in Guwahati. In an emotional message to the MLAs, he said, “You are still with Shiv Sena from the heart.” He also said that he was concerned about them. He said, “You’ve been locked up for the last few days. Every day new information surfaces. Many of you are still in touch.”
