The area where I bumped into the freemason's lodge is called Saint Helena. Saint Helena is named after one of the prolific mines in the history of South Africa and the World. The Saint Helena mine is situated just 8 minutes away outside Welkom. The Saint Helena mine is where gold was first discovered in the province of Free State, and that's where freemason's Lodge Central Free State No.35 just happens to be.
