2025 Mazda CX-70 - Interior & Exterior | The Best New 2-Row Luxury SUV To Buy?

What's New for 2025?
The CX-70 nameplate is new to the Mazda lineup for 2025, although the vehicle itself is essentially the same as the CX-90 that was introduced last year. The CX-70 has blacked-out exterior trim to differentiate it, plus a new wheel design. Mazda is also adding features such as Amazon Alexa integration, and there’s an underfloor storage compartment in the cargo area. Mazda hasn’t announced pricing or trim-level details for the CX-70, but the company did say it will be offered in fewer trims than the CX-90. The S models will have the more powerful 340-hp version of the inline-six engine, while the base versions have a 280-hp tune.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
All nonhybrid CX-70 models come with a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline-six engine that makes 280-hp in base form and 340 hp in S trims. We've found this powertrain to be powerful and smooth-running in the CX-90, but the eight-speed automatic is sometimes reluctant to obey commands sent from the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. When we get a chance to drive the CX-70, we’ll report on how its driving characteristics differ from the CX-90, but we expect them to feel similar from behind the wheel because they share a platform. There may be slight differences in suspension tuning, however.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
We’ve come to expect plush materials, upscale designs, and lots of features from Mazda SUVs, and the CX-70 appears to be no different. Its interior looks the same as the CX-90’s, though it offers a red leather interior upholstery option and has only two rows of seats instead of three. The cargo area should offer the same amount of space as the CX-90 does with its third row folded, although the CX-70 has a larger underfloor storage compartment.
