The term “ASSIGNED LAND” is defined under section 2(1) of the A P ASSIGNED LANDS (PROHIBITION OF TRANSFERS) ACT, 1977.
Ans:
Assigned land is UN utilized Government land given to the landless poor for agriculture purposes under the rules for the time being in force subject to the condition of non-alienation and includes lands allotted or transferred to the landless poor persons 3 January 2007
The farmers can enjoy cultivation rights on such land but do not have the right to sell or transfer it to other persons.
Assigned lands are heritable but not alienable.
“Landless poor persons”:
Means a person who owns an extent of land not more than 2&1/2 acres of wet land and 5 acres of dry land or such other extent of land has been or may be specified by the Government in this behalf, from time to time and who has no other means of livelihood. Annual income is Rs 11000.
“Transfer” :means any sale, gift, exchange, mortgage with or without possession, lease or any other transactions with assigned lands.
“ASSIGNED HOUSES”:
Means houses provided by the government to the homeless people.
Main intention is to provide the houses to the minority section of the society.
