But it was Leia's discovery of Shmi Skywalker's holojournal that changed everything. It contained daily recordings of Shmi's life, meant to be shared with Anakin upon his return from Jedi training. As Leia dove into the journal, she realized that there was nothing inherently evil in the Skywalker bloodline. Deeply affected by this, Leia changed her mind about having children. The idea that her family's legacy could be redeemed was a powerful one, and it convinced her that she could break the cycle of darkness.
