The counting of votes for the Maharashtra assembly elections, held on November 20 with a voter turnout of 66.05%, will begin at 8 am on Saturday. The battle is between the BJP-led Mahayuti coalition and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance. Kolhapur recorded the highest turnout at 76.63%, while Mumbai island city had the lowest at 52.07%.
A total of 288 counting centres have been set up for the assembly polls and the Nanded Lok Sabha bypoll, where 67.81% voting was recorded. Over 4,100 candidates, including 2,086 independents, contested this year's elections—a 28% increase from 2019.
Observers and special tables have been arranged to ensure smooth counting for postal and electronically transmitted ballots. BJP, Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar's NCP represented the Mahayuti, while Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP (SP) contested under the MVA banner.
