Have you had to learn the 5 step mohawk sequence yet? Consisting of just 5 steps, this pattern is easily recognisable for its simple layout. Mohawk (C-step), push back, step forward and switch feet before repeating the other direction. While the pattern is easy to remember and follow along, it can be very tricky to skate if you haven't tried it before.
So in this lesson we dive straight into showing you the pattern and the simple mistakes and corrections you should keep in mind when learning to skate it on the ice. This lesson is great for those figure skaters who haven't learnt the pattern yet, or those who are looking for some extra tips as they keep practicing it at training.
If you have any plans on testing this pattern in front of judges/officials at your local ice rink, be sure to ask for their main focus points for this pattern. While we did out best to cover everything, we might have missed some really important areas!
In this lesson you'll learn:
- What the 5-step mohawk sequence looks like
- How to skate the 5-step mohawk sequence smoothly across the ice
- The mistakes and corrections you should focus on when trying this pattern
Happy Skating!
