Well, against all expectations, we found something really cool and exciting at SHOT Show 2017 Range Day! It's SilencerCo's "Maxim-9", an integrally suppressed new pistol design. It was built from the ground up to be suppressed, using a fixed barrel and delayed blowback system (they won't let us see the exact delaying mechanism, although we suspect it is roller-delayed).
The Maxim-9 is quiet (hearing safe with all +P and +P+ loads in the long version; hearing safe with subsonic loads in the short version), fast-shooting, and generally really excellent. We can see this being a great piece for home defense, competition, and police carry - almost anything, really. We are pretty excited to get our hands on a couple production models to tinker with!
